Inspect ObjectsThe Inspector is a multipurpose tool for viewing and editing data in EBs and Comments, editing and testing inks, and editing or adding data to Diamonds. Tools menu > Inspector or Command+I or clicking on the Inspector Icon in the Tool Bar activates the Inspector. With the Inspector Panel open, clicking on an EB, comment, link or Diamond in the Matrix or Overlap view will change the Inspector panel. |
| Inspect/Edit EBs |
Selecting an EB with the Inspector open results in making the data and links for the EB accessible. The data tab displays EB contents; the Links tab displays inbound and outbound links to this EB. Click on Data or Links tab to activate that display. |
The Inspector Data Panel |
Any data displayed in the Data panel can be edited by selecting the text and replacing it with new text. ![]() |
The Inspector Links TabThe Links tab displays links coming into and going out of the selected EB. Use this panel to analyze inbound links, to edit the Necessary and Sufficient Test status, and to unlink or change the status of an outgoing link. |
| Incoming Links | The list of incoming links is used to determine if the links are necessary and sufficient for the selected EB to occur the way it did, and record the results of this analysis. The Necessary and Sufficient Test passed check box displays the results of the logic testing. When the box is empty, the arrowheads of the links are white. When this box displays a check mark, the inbound arrowheads of all these links burn red. See Logic Testing section of this Manual for testing procedure. |
| Outgoing Links | Toggle the status of outgoing links by clicking on the Status check box. A question mark indicates the link is tentative, shown by a dashed arrow, and a check mark indicates the link is confirmed. Remove a link by clicking on the Unlink check box. To undo, use Edit menu > Undo. |

Inspect/modify Links |
The Link Inspector provides data about a selected link. With Inspector open, click on the link to open Link Inspector panel. ![]() Click on the desired status button. |
Inspect/Edit Comment |
The content and type of Comment can be changed with the Comment Inspector. ![]() Select text to be changed and replace it with new text. Change the type of Comment by clicking on the appropriate button. |
Inspect/Edit Diamond entries |
Diamond problems, options and tradeoffs can be reviewed and edited in the Diamond Inspector Panels or the WINDOW > DIAMOND PANEL. Use Command-I or click on the Inspector icon in the Tool Bar or TOOLS menu>INSPECTOR to open the Inspector, then click on a numbered Diamond to display the Diamond Inspector Panel tabs. Select the Problem tab to view and edit the Problem data. with the data in the Diamond. Select the Contols and Tradeoffs tab to view and edit the options and tradeoffs entered. If more than one option is shown in the Option pane, select an option to view the tradeoffs entered for that option in the Tradeoffs pane. The tradeoffs displayed vary with the option row selected. In the example below, the first row is selects, which results in the display of sample tradeoffs for that option in the Tradeoffs pane. ![]() If any changes are made, close the Inspector panels and use Command+S to save the changes. Any text in the Diamond Inspector panel can be selected and edited. |
View Glossaries |
In New Event Block Panel (Command+B) or Inspector Panel (Command+I) click on Blue Square at end of any Text Box to view a glossary. ![]() Glossaries being implemented for the problem, option and tradeoff entries will be accessed similarly so they are available during data entry. |
