Import Matrices
Investigation Catalyst allows users to merge Matrices into a master Matrix using the Import function
during a project, or aggregate all Matrices into a historical summary for analysis
purposes.
To import a Matrix, with a master Matrix file open, use
- File Menu > Import
- Select the file to import from the Finder window and
- click on Open button.
Duplicate EBs
If the imported file contains any duplicate EBs, the following message is displayed:
| Skip |
Click on Skip to skip the duplicate EB and continue with the
import for the remaining EBs.
|
| Change |
Click on Change to access the Edit Duplicate Event panel,
containing all the data in the duplicate EB. Either the Actor or the Begin Time
must be changed to avoid duplicating an EB in the master Matrix. After changes
are made, click on Commit Details to import the changed EB and continue with the
import.
|
| Import |
Click on Import to import the duplicate EB unchanged.
|
| Cancel |
Click on Cancel to terminate the import.
|
After the Imported file has been added, review the Matrix to ensure that the EBs
are ordered correctly. Press Command-T or click on the Order EBs to time icon in the Tool Bar
or use Tools > Snap EBs to Time to arrange the EBs by their Begin times.
NOTE: Imported files retain links among EBs in that file, but any new links
must be added after the files are merged. EBs and links in the merged file must be
tested with the sequencing and necessary and sufficient logic. |
The Import function provides an opportunity to quality check the investigation, and
remedy anomalies in the description or explanation of the actions.
